CPAP Trial
For our patients in Southern Brisbane and the Gold Coast we offer CPAP Trials. We highly recommend that you do a CPAP Trial before proceeding with long-term CPAP therapy. These services are not available to purchase online.
Rise Sleep Health offers 3 types of CPAP Trials as listed below. Patients have a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) trial to determine whether CPAP therapy is an effective and tolerable treatment for their Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
Type | Duration | Cost | Follow-Ups |
Standard Trial | 2 weeks | *$150 | 3 |
QHSDP Trial | 8 weeks | $250 | 4 |
Sleep Physician | 4 weeks | $300 | 4 |
QHSDP Trial – you must get a referral from the Sleep Disorder Unit at one of the Public Hospitals like Gold Coast University Hospital.
Sleep Physician – you are referred by a Respiratory and Sleep Physician. The difference in price is because we do an oximetry test in the final week.
*On some devices the $150 may be discounted from your long-term (purchase) CPAP Package.

FOLLOW UP
We perform regular follow-ups with you and send a letter to your referring doctor when you start a CPAP Trial and we send them an End of Trial report as well. Here’s a breakdown of why CPAP Trials are recommended by Rise Sleep Health:
1. To confirm effectiveness : The trial allows clinicians to objectively assess whether CPAP reduces the patient’s apneas, hypopneas, and improves oxygen levels during sleep.
2. To ensure tolerance and comfort : Not all patients find CPAP comfortable. A trial helps identify if the patient can tolerate the pressure, the mask, and the sensation of airflow.
3. To guide long-term treatment : A successful trial gives confidence to the patient and doctor that investing in a long-term device will be beneficial.
4. To educate and support the patient : The trial period usually includes support from a Sleep Coach or clinician to help the patient adjust to therapy and overcome common barriers.
5. To collect data for refinement : Modern CPAP devices record detailed data (usage, leak, AHI) which can help tailor the therapy — adjusting pressure settings or mask type.
6. To build patient confidence : Some patients are skeptical or anxious about CPAP. A short-term trial helps them experience the benefits firsthand without commitment.
What Happens After a CPAP Trial?
If your CPAP trial is successful, the next step is to consider long-term therapy. CPAP isn’t a quick fix—it’s a long-term solution for managing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Consistent use helps prevent the serious health risks associated with untreated OSA, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and excessive daytime fatigue.
Why Long-Term CPAP Therapy Matters:
-Improves sleep quality and reduces snoring
-Boosts energy and concentration during the day
-Protects your health
-Reduces risks of accidents from drowsy driving or work fatigue
-Enhances mood and overall quality of life

Cheap CPAP May Cost You More
Buying the cheapest option online may save money upfront, but without the right setup and support, many patients give up on CPAP altogether. Poor results, frustration, and unused machines are all too common.
We’re here to help you succeed long-term, not just make a sale!
What If My CPAP Trial Isn’t Successful?
If you’ve completed a CPAP trial but found it uncomfortable or ineffective, don’t worry—there are still other options available based on the severity of your Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

1. If you have Mild to Moderate OSA:
You may be suitable for a Mandibular Advancement Splint (MAS).
This is a custom-made dental device that gently repositions your lower jaw to keep your airway open during sleep. We offer a MAS Trial so you can test whether this therapy works for you before committing to long-term treatment.
2. If you have Severe OSA:
CPAP remains the most effective treatment. If you were unable to tolerate it during the trial, we recommend:
-Returning to your GP to discuss your experience
-Getting a referral to a Sleep and Respiratory Physician (A specialist can assess why CPAP didn’t work for you and explore advanced options such as):
-CPAP pressure modifications
-Bi-level therapy
-Positional therapy
-Surgical consultation (in some cases)
At Rise Sleep Health, our goal is to help you find a treatment that works for you—so you can sleep better, feel better, and live better.
We’re here to support you every step of the way.
